 This course will follow international and domestic events as they unfold over the Fall.

International topics will include:

(1) Disintegrating Iraq,

(2) Nuclear Threats from Iran and North Korea,

(3) International Economic Competition and

(4) Free Markets and Democracies and Authoritarian Regimes.

Domestic topics will include:

(1) Presidential and Vice-Presidential politics,

(2) Supreme Court’s Lurch to the right and

(3) Significant Bills and Legislation.

We will also cover any topic that becomes significant during the course term.

 

These topics will be analyzed in terms of their historical, social and legal context and consequences. Attendees will be encouraged to join in free ranging discussions on these topics and might be asked to lead the discussion of a particular topic. Readings will include articles from leading US newspapers, such as the New York Times, and leading news and commentary magazines, such as the Economist.

Monday:  2.30 to 4.30 p.m.
